My journey of healing and becoming the woman God created me to be has been a bit like a fairytale… full of good and evil, beauty and horror, broken dreams and a broken heart, a dragon disguised as a prince and an unexpected knight in shining armor. It was Jesus who came and rescued me from the prison of domestic violence. But even after being freed, there was much healing to be done.
Therapeutic art and writing helped me reclaim my voice and express my painful emotions and traumatic memories. I found that I could say things with color and shapes that I could not say with words. As the Lord continues to heal my heart and love me into the woman He created me to be, I continue to find joy in experimenting with artistic mediums. I long to create reflections of His beauty and to share the healing power of creativity with others.

What is Catholic Expressive Arts?
By combining prayer and the gift of creativity, Catholic Expressive Arts facilitates spiritual and emotional healing, personal growth, and interior peace. Catholic Expressive Arts is spiritual direction in color! Together, we invite Jesus to enter into our hearts and our imaginations and to dialogue with us through His gift of creativity. You will be amazed at how He answers our prayer and makes His presence visible in color and images. No artistic talent or experience is needed. Just openness to the Holy Spirit!
Rather than focusing on artistic talent or a finished product, Catholic Expressive Arts is about process and presence. It’s a prayerful space where God meets you in your creativity and speaks to the inner places of your heart—especially those wounded by trauma, grief, or shame. The focus is on becoming aware of the Lord’s movements within your heart and life and expressing your dialogue with Him in color and image. The goal is a deeper, more authentic relationship with Jesus, not expert artworks.

My paintings and artistic expression flow from my prayer and meditation on scripture. The Lord has turned my sorrow into joy, my mourning into dancing, and now, I use artistic mediums to make visible the joy and hope we have in Him.

Come Bloom In Hope’s Garden
Hope’s Garden is the Lord’s answer to my prayers and the prayers of thousands of women around the world. As I suffered the heartache, confusion, grief, and loneliness of domestic abuse I cried out to God for help, for someone who understood. Once He rescued me from the abuse and healed my heart with His pure and faithful love, I knew we had to find and help the others.
Through the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Catholic women from around the world are coming to Hope’s Garden. Like the Spanish roses on the hill of Tepeyac in 1531, we are blooming under the mantle of Our Lady. If you have been wounded by your spouse’s lack of respect for your dignity, I invite you to come and heal with us.
